The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism guides the pilot phase 2 to welcome international tourists

On the afternoon of February 17, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Official Letter No. 465/BVHTTDL-TCDL signed by Deputy Minister Doan Van Viet on the same day on guiding the pilot to welcome international tourists in the phase 2 to March 14, 2022.

Accordingly, the Guidelines require tourists to be picked up via regular international charter or commercial flights. Localities, based on local needs and conditions to ensure safety against Covid-19 epidemic, proactively decide to welcome international tourists and notify the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism .

Foreigners, overseas Vietnamese and Vietnamese citizens may participate in the pilot program to welcome international tourists if the following requirements are met:

Participating in the tour program of an international travel service business, hereinafter referred to as a tour operator.

Having a certificate of vaccination against Covid-19 recognized by a competent authority in Vietnam, the last dose given within 14 days and not exceeding 12 months by the time of departure. Or have a certificate of recovery from Covid-19 or equivalent documents certifying that they have recovered from Covid-19 disease, issued by a competent authority in the country of treatment and recognized by Vietnam.

The time from the time of discharge from the hospital to the time of departure must not exceed 6 months.

- For tourists under 18 years old, people aged 65 years or older, pregnant women, people with underlying medical conditions (but not monitored and treated at medical facilities) who have not been vaccinated or given insufficient doses. Covid-19 vaccine can be accompanied by parents, legal guardians or caregivers who have had a full dose of Covid-19 vaccine or have recovered from Covid-19; must strictly comply with the requirements on testing and regulations on Covid-19 epidemic prevention and control as prescribed.

- Having a negative test result for SARS-CoV-2 (by RT-PCR/RT-LAMP method) within 72 hours before departure and certified by the competent authority of the country performing the test (except for children under 2 years old).

- Have medical insurance or travel insurance that covers Covid-19 treatment with a minimum liability of $20,000.

- Ensure conditions on exit and entry according to the provisions of Vietnamese law on entry and exit.

Ministries and branches continue to carry out tasks related to the piloting of international tourists to Vietnam according to their functions and tasks, ensuring disease prevention and control and creating favorable conditions for tourists. .

The guidance states that, the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities, based on the needs and conditions for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic, proactively decide to welcome international tourists and notify the Ministry of Transport. Culture, Sports and Tourism.

International travel businesses need to have a plan to welcome and manage the delegation, ensuring the safety of the Covid-19 epidemic according to regulations. The travel enterprise shall send a written registration for participation in the pilot program to welcome international tourists to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, enclosed with the necessary documents as prescribed.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the ministries and the People's Committees of the provinces and centrally-run cities to direct the implementation of the pilot phase of welcoming international tourists to Vietnam in the period 2-14. March 3, 2022 to ensure safety, prevent and control epidemics, and create favorable conditions for international tourists to enter Vietnam.
