Prepare conditions to fully open to tourism

On February 21, in Hanoi, the National Administration of Tourism held a press conference to announce the plan to reopen tourism activities under new normal conditions from March 15, 2022. This is a proposal being consulted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before the official announcement.

Mr. Nguyen Quy Phuong, Director of the Travel Department, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism said that the regulations on opening tourism from March 15 will be more flexible. Visitors can come to Vietnam by land, sea and air via regular international flights instead of just charter flights like the pilot.

In addition to the fact that tourists must meet the regulations on vaccination, Covid-19 prevention or certificate of recovery from Covid-19, the National Administration of Tourism recommends that visitors entering via air be selected for testing by PCR method. valid for 72 hours or rapid test results valid 24 hours before flying to Vietnam. Upon landing at the airport, guests go directly to the registered property and have the test performed at the registered property. Tourists traveling by land or by sea are tested quickly at the border gate. International tourists after having negative test results will be allowed to participate in tourism activities and comply with epidemic prevention and control regulations like domestic tourists.

In addition, visitors must have medical insurance or travel insurance that covers at least 10,000 USD for Covid-19 treatment; at the same time install at least one safety management application for Covid-19 disease prevention and control according to the regulations of specialized agencies and stay connected while in Vietnam.

Regarding visa issues, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism proposes to the Government and the Prime Minister to allow the application of visa policies for tourists entering Vietnam as before 2020, including: e-visa, unilateral and bilateral visa exemption.

Speaking at the information exchange, Director General Nguyen Trung Khanh affirmed: The whole tourism industry is ready and is in the process of preparing related work to best ensure the complete opening of tourism. . The Director General emphasized: Ensuring safety for epidemic prevention and control is a prerequisite for reopening tourism.

In order to quickly restore Vietnam's tourism, the Director General noted that the key issues that need to be focused are: the combined role of tourism and aviation in attracting tourists, creating tourism products. competitive, attractive calendar; negotiate to increase the number of countries and territories that recognize Vietnam's vaccine passports in order to promote outbound tourism (taking tourists abroad) in balance with inbound (receiving international visitors); prepare conditions on service capacity, facilities and human resources after a 2-year hiatus due to the epidemic to ensure service quality; improve destination competitiveness; and promote communication, promotion and promotion of tourism through digital platforms. The Director General said that in the coming time, Vietnam's tourism will participate in international fairs in Northeast Asia, Europe, especially Russia to promote tourism products to these markets.
