On the afternoon of December 23, in Hanoi, the National Administration of Tourism held a conference to review the work of 2019 and deploy the tasks of 2020.

At the conference, Deputy Director General of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong briefly reported on the results of the tourism industry in 2019.

Accordingly, in 2019, Vietnam's tourism is estimated to welcome 18 million international visitors (up 16% compared to 2018); serving 85 million domestic visitors (up 6%); total revenue from tourists is estimated at more than 720,000 billion VND (an increase of over 16%).

The competitiveness of Vietnam's tourism has continuously improved in the ranking of the World Economic Forum (WEF), ranking 63/140 economies.

As of December 15, 2019, the system of tour operators and guides has 720 businesses that have been granted new international travel business licenses. Currently, the country has 2,648 international travel agencies, the whole country has 26,864 tour guides, of which 6161 new guide cards are issued. At the same time, there are 118 accommodation establishments in the 4-5 star segment recognized. There are 30,000 storage facilities nationwide with 650,000 rooms, an increase of more than 2,000 accommodation facilities compared to 2018.

The conference also outlined the key tasks for 2020 of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, along with solutions, recommendations and proposals.

At the conference, the delegates also contributed ideas to the draft final report for 2019 and the key directions and tasks in 2020.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Quang Tung highly appreciated the results achieved by Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in 2019. The Deputy Minister suggested that in 2020, the General Department will better perform management tasks. government and public services.

The Minister requested that in 2020, Vietnam's tourism needs to reach the target of welcoming 20.5 million international visitors. To achieve this result, the Minister suggested that from the first month of 2020, Vietnam National Administration of Tourism should have drastic solutions. The minister hopes to welcome the 20 millionth international visitor in the nearest day.
