*Tanh Well

Well Tanh is about 200 meters north of Gieng Tanh communal house. A special feature of Gieng Tanh is that the water level of the well is always higher than the water level of the surrounding fields, streams and ponds. The water of Gieng Tanh is available all year round, never dries up, the water is very clear, so it is called Gieng Tanh (in Cao Lan, "Tanh" means clean, pure, not foul-smelling). According to the villagers of Gieng Tanh village, the well was known in the year of Nham Tuat (1706). At that time, some clans of the Cao Lan ethnic group went to the North to find a new land to live. One day, the ancestors saw that this area was flat, the land was fertile, the trees were lush, and especially the water was clear, so they made a village and named the village. In the past, the whole village used the water source in Gieng Tanh for daily living. During the festival of the village communal house (January 10 every year), the Cao Lan people take well water to worship the communal house because they believe that taking the well water to make offerings will be very sacred.
